by | Mar 24, 2025 | Breakfast, Recipe

Ingredients

1 ogre thumb, 2.5 inches thick

3 bundles of fairy hair

2 bundles of foraged mint

4 cups wild strawberries

2.5 cups ice, finely grated

1 cup milk

1 tsp. nutmeg

2-3 Servings

24 Hrs to Prep

5-10 Mins to Cook

24.5 Hrs Total

Instructions

The night before…

  1. Submerge the bundles of hair in a large mixing bowl full of boiling water. Soak for 24 hours. When ready, it should be the consistency of fine cotton candy.
  2. While soaking the hair, make sure to thoroughly wash the thumb. Leave it in the sun until completely dry.
  3. Once dried, crush the thumb into a fine powder.

The day of…

  1. Place ice within the blender.
  2. When the ice begins to melt (just beginning), place the now-softened hair, the mint, and the milk within the blender. Pulse until the desired consistency and uniformity is reached.
  3. Introduce the remaining ingredients to the blender, and blend until the desired consistency and uniformity is reached.

Tips & Tricks

As I’m sure you can imagine given the contents of this post, this is merely a test. So alas, there are no true tips, nor tricks, to share with the world. That said, let’s have some fun with it!

  • When collecting fairy hair, beware of the mushroom circles!
  • The more glittery the hair, the harder it is to dissolve; however, the more glittery it is, the more nutritious. Either texture can make for a great smoothie! Just keep this in mind if you have any particular related, smoothie-drinking goals.
  • Be careful when harvesting the thumb. Ogre’s are known to bite (and given the context here, who can blame them?).
  • Nutmeg can be substituted with cinnamon, cocoa powder, and, in some cases, all spice!
